Production Blog: Editing the video

Image
Hello Cambridge people! Today we started doing the editing. We first needed to move the videos we took on a phone onto a computer. Unfortunately we had trouble transferring them because the Wi-Fi was acting up. We also thought that the file we were trying to airdrop was too large, as we put all of the videos on one file. We kept trying to upload it but it still wouldn't work. Finally, we put it into smaller files and were able to successfully upload the videos and were able to start editing. The next order of business was to choose the takes we wanted to keep. We were able to agree on most of the videos, but there were a couple we couldn't decide on. Specifically, we couldn't decide on the video we wanted to use for the cereal scene. Samantha wanted to use one where she didn't slam her head into the bowl, but I felt that these were a bit too fake looking. She clearly slows down before her head hits the bowl so that she didn't hurt her head. While this is fine

Production Blog: The music part of the video

Welcome back Cambridge people! Today we recorded the second part of the music video, where we actually played instruments. First, Samantha's dad took us over to his studio and we listened to the song on the way there. I was a bit nervous because there bass was going to be a full sized bass, which I had never practiced on before. Fortunately, his turned out to not be a problem and I was easily able to play my part the whole time. I had also never played next to a drum set before and I did not realize that the bass would make the snare drum make noise, so that freaked me out. We had Samantha's dad put on the song, and we tried our best to sync up to the song. We started out playing with full lighting and ad Samantha's dad film us with a normal lens. He did lots of the different shots we needed to do for the video, which is good. We played through the whole song even though we know that we won't be using most of the song in the video. We did this again with a fisheye

Production blog: Filming day!

Hello Cambridge peoples! Today we started filming our music video. We drove over to Samantha's house at 10:00 and started working as soon as everyone was there. First, we took some pictures of a "lover" that would be on Samantha's phone that she would delete to show that they had broken up. Once we were done with that, we started filming in order of the video. We were going to use Samantha's phone to record the video. Our first scene we recorded was the first one on the storyboard, where the main character, played by Samantha, was supposed to be filmed from an aerial shot waking up as depressed as possible. We started laughing during the first take, which caused Samantha to laugh, so we had to do another take. We also took another one after that for good measure.  The next take would be an over the shoulder shot where Samantha would be deleting the pictures from her phone, with her phone being played by Lilly's phone. We did another two takes for good me

Welcome back Cambridge people! We will be recording tomorrow, and I am very nervous for it. I have a bit of a starring role, which I did not particularly want, and I probably will be on screen more then I am really comfortable. While I am fine with public speaking, my stage fright comes in with people seeing me while I talk. I won't even be speaking in the video, so it is going to be all of the parts of acting that I hate with none of the stuff I like. Still, at least I'm not the main character in it, so it's not quite as stressful. I'm also scared that I will have to direct some of the scenes because they were my idea. The group seems a bit confused about some of the scenes I've suggested, particularly the scene where the main character is depressed a puts their head down while eating cereal. So, if I want it like I imagined it, I'll have to direct them through it, which could hold up the production. I also don't know how the house looks like, so I d

Production Blog- A hiccup in the road

Hello Cambridge! We haven't started recording yet, but we've still got work to do. First of all, I need to be able to believably play the song in the video, or at the very least the chorus. So, over the past week, I've been trying to learn the song through tabs, which show the fret that you need to play on each string. This song is actually tuned down a little bit from the normal, which is the first song I've ever learned with alternate tuning. A big drawback of using tabs to learn a song is that it does not tell you when to play different parts, so I don't really know for certain I'm playing at the right times for the verses. However, I can play the chorus to perfection, along with the bridge, which will likely be the only part of the song that we will be playing. I also started using a strap to see how I look for the music video, which is only the second time I've worn a strap. I know the song well enough that I can move around while playing it, whic

Group Blog

Hello Cambridge people! For my music video, I will be working with Samantha Burton, Lilly Gonzalez, and Amelie De Kegel. I chose this group because we already sit together in class, so I know we won't have any issues of infighting. Samantha and Lilly were also both in my group for Component 3 of Global Perspectives, so I know that we can work well together to make a good final product. Additionally, I know that all of them are smart and will not procrastinate or throw all of the work on me. Also, Samantha showed me her commercial, so I know that she is good at editing, which is something that I struggle with. In fact, all of them are much better at editing than me, so I know that the final project will look good. A problem that may arise here is me not getting to do any of the editing and therefore not improving at editing. This possibility could also lead to problems within the group, with my groupmates getting mad at me for not contributing enough. So, in order to stop this

Hello Mr. Cambridge Person! My name is Isaac and I am from Hollywood Florida. I was born on June 12, 2008, only 2 days after my mom. I have now finished my commercial! Now, we can move on to the music video. I LOVE cats, especially black cats and tuxedo cats. I have two cats, named Leo and Dobby, after the ninja turtle and after the house elf from Harry Potter. They're both 8, bu t they are still very active and very silly. My favorite online cat is Maxwell, who is a small black and white tuxedo cat with fluffy fur, and he sits like a loaf of bread. I also really like red pandas, because they are very smart and they act a lot like humans.     My favorite sport is soccer, or football as most people (correctly) call it. My favorite club is Chelsea, even though it upsets me to see how much they spend to get a mid-table finish. I also like Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle because of how exciting they are to watch. I also like Newcastle because Aleksander Isak has the same name a
