Re-Shoot Blog: Fixing our Mistakes

Hello Cambridge! Today we reshot the scenes that we needed to for the project. We needed to get Amelie ready to reshoot some things to make them more fluid in editing, because the original clips were not long enough to smooth this issue out over editing. The only problem was that Amelie had redyed her hair a slightly different way, meaning that we had to find some way to cover this up on video. Otherwise, we would have to reshoot the whole video to cover inconsistencies. Luckily I had a sprayable, easily washable hair dye at home, which I gave to Amelie the day before. This way, Amelie wouldn't have to change her whole look for a couple of scenes in a video. While it wasn't perfect, it's not easily noticeable that her hair is different on camera, so I think its fine. Most of the scenes we had to reshoot didn't really have her hair in it as much, so I think that unless you specifically look for it, you won't notice it, and even if you look hard, it's still hard to tell. Anyways, we filmed the few scenes we had to and I think they look much more fluid now. We slightly changed our directing style, where instead of telling Amelie to go and then pressing record, we started recording first, so that we don't start recording too late and miss something.

The next thing we had to do is record the "intrusive thoughts" that were suggested. We're still not sure if we're going to actually put it in, but we feel its a good idea to have it anyway. We had some debate on whether or not to have both me and Lilly say them, or to have just one of us say the lines, or if we should have Amelie say them to show that the voices are in her head. I immediately ruled out having Amelie say them, because I feel that a new voice would be too jarring for the viewer. I also like the idea that the voices shift from being outside of Amelie's head to possibly inside her head. I think this adds a lot of mystery and creepiness, which is what we really want for our video. We also decided that having just one of us say the lines would be a bit weird, as there would be no explanation for why one of the voices suddenly cuts out. So, we recorded me and Lilly saying lines like "You're not good enough," "You'll never be enough," and a couple of others, although realistically we will only use a couple of them. These small changes should go a long way to improving our video.
