Reflection

Welcome back Cambridge people! Now that I've finished my project, I'd like to look back at what I learned from it. I sort of learned to use CapCut, though I still have no idea how to put music in. I learned how to add transitions to my videos on CapCut, along with how to move where the transitions are. I also learned how to upload pictures to computers, which was something I previously struggled with. To do this, you need to send the pictures to yourself via email, and then download them onto the computer. Thankfully, my friend showed me how, because I would neve have guessed how to do this. Previously, I would just use my phone to do things with the pictures, but I obviously can't edit the video on my phone. Finally, I learned how to add text and move where the text is in the video, along with changing the style of the text. This includes the font and the color of the text.

I also learned how long it takes to put together a project. I only used previously taken pictures, so I didn't have to go out and film, and the project still took a very long time. I found that you need to have a clear idea of what you want the project to be, because I kept changing what I wanted the commercial to be. This greatly contributed to the amount of time it took to make the project. It's also important to get everything together before you start editing so that you can make your project more cohesive. It also takes less time because you do not have to constantly change your plans as you come up with more ideas. Finally, I learned that its important to have a backup plan, because problems come up often.

To make the next project better, I think I could try to make a plan before I start, instead of rolling with the punches. While I'm glad that I am finished with the project, I think that having a clear plan of what the project would be would have made it much better. I also should have made sure the few plans I had would work, as a big problem I had was being unable to figure out how to make things work. I had problems putting in my video and putting in my song and ended up not being able to put in either. I should have made backup plans because of how likely it is that something won't work, which could save time. Another thing that would make the next project better is making the video more dynamic, as there are many sections that are just a picture with nothing happening on it. Having more movement on the next project could make it more interesting to watch.

For my next project, I want to make the video more interesting. The video I made is fine, but not exceptional. I want the next video to be funnier and faster-paced. There were too may awkward pauses and moments where nothing was really happening, and it feels like a PowerPoint in parts. I also want to figure out editing much better. Part of the reason that the video is the way it is is because I don't know how to edit it to make it better. I'd like to know how to make text move on the screen, which would have made the project far more interesting. I would also like to learn how to add music, because I am still a bit mad that I couldn't put in the song that I wanted to. Still, I am excited for my next project, whatever it may be!
