Production Blog: The Final Cut
Welcome, Cambridge people, to the final production blog, because I finally finished! Fortunately, I did not have too much to do, just add the finishing touches. I decided for sure that I was not adding in the video of me pretending to be a weatherman, because when I once again tried to download it and completely failed. Either way, I wasn't really as interested in putting it into the video as I was when I first had the idea, so I'm not too upset about this. What I am upset about is that I had to change my background music choice! I could not find any way to put in the song I wanted, Sound and Vision by David Bowie. I even looked up a tutorial and it didn't help in the slightest. Instead, I decided to look up some of the default background music that is available on CapCut, and found a lo-fi song called "Lo-fi Piano Chill Out" which suited the video well. The edits happened to be almost perfectly on the beats of the song, which was a nice coincidence. The song is also very calming, which was my goal for the background music of the video, so the end result isn't too much different than what I wanted it to be. Still, I really wanted to put in the song that I wanted into the video.
Finally, the last thing to do was to finish editing. This included making any last minute changes and adding transitions. First, I decided to change my intro text to include my name in it, so that it feels a bit more personal. Then, I decided that all the cuts between pictures that were not related would have the same transition, a fade out to fade in. Then, the pictures that had something to do with each other, like the pictures of me or the pictures of my cats, would have their own transitions. For example, the pictures of me have what CapCut calls a "stretch" and the pictures of my cats got what CapCut calls "Then and Now". My favorite transition is between my cat and the ending screen, because the cat picture literally fades to black. I also decided to make the text on screen with the pictures last throughout the whole picture, because it was just awkwardly disappearing in the middle of the picture and then the picture would stay up for a few extra seconds. It looked off, like they were supposed to go at the same time but the picture didn't get the memo. Anyways, I'm glad to be done with it, even though it was pretty fun.
